The word scandal and the name Clinton go hand in hand. There are many of them and most have been covered up due to their money and political influence. Although I wasn’t born at the time of this particular one, I will do my best to show you the extreme greed that lead to the disgusting actions that happened when Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas, which led to the tens of thousands of deaths that the came in the form of blood infected with AIDs and other such diseases from the Prison under his reign.
Every article on the subject that I tried to access by link didn’t exist, or the website had been taken down. Every article I searched for didn’t produce any results. Luckily, some public forums related to the matter are still around and on a subject as volatile as this one, many people commented. Fortunately some of those comments contained articles that were published at the time of this disgusting situation.
It all started in 1981, when Health Management Associates wins a contract to
provide health services to the state inmates of Arkansas , including
running a blood plasma donor program. The Centers for Disease Control and World Health
Organization establish that AIDS is a blood-borne disease. The CDC recommended testing and sterilization of donor blood however the recommendation was widely ignored.
In June 1983 the HMA tells FDA that 38 units of plasma from four
inmates of the Grady prison had tested positive for hepatitis B previously, even though the test at the time came up negative. HMA didn’t feel the need to recall the plasma, and carried on as usual, leaving anyone who received the blood at risk of contracting Hepatitis B.
By 1983, however, AIDs had been proven to be linked to Hepatitis B increasing the risk of contracting one from the other. That risk was apparent when the 38 units of plasma from those four inmates could also transmit AIDs as well as Hepatitis B. Four of those units went to Canada while the others were sold to corporations in places such as Spain, Japan and Italy.
Health Management Associates was headed by Leonard Dunn, a man who would brag to state
police of his close ties to Clinton. This begs the question, how much did Governor Clinton know about the infected blood? He obviously knew about the operation and one would think that he would also know the blood was being sold to other countries, even with a risk of infection. Dunn’s ties to Clinton were so close, he was later appointed to the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission and was among the senior members of Mr. Clinton’s 1990 gubernatorial re-election team.
In August 1983, HMA decides to withdraw the 38 units from circulation and FDA concurs. This was the first time that the firm in Canada that the blood was sent to knew about any complications. The shipping papers had only shown that the blood came from “ADC Plasma Center, Grady, Arkansas”. It was already too late as the blood was already in circulations and only 417 of the 2409 vials of blood were retrieved. It wasn’t until the Food and Drug Administration suspended the plasma program at the Grady prison in 1984, that the HMA stopped selling the plasma to other countries. The FDA stopped the plasma program due to health violations, which included overbleeding (the act of taking too much blood from the patient), the use of donors infected with hepatitis, and due to procedures of storage and record-keeping being inadequate. HMA, even after all of this controversy, still had its $3- million contract renewed that same year by Clinton.
After increased pressure from the public, who had grown suspicious of the practices in the prison, Clinton tells a radio audience in March 1986 that “there is no evidence of systematic abuse for which the administration is responsible that I can see. If I did, I’d try to do something about it.”
Skipping ahead to May 1993, two separate investigations are held to find out what happened in this whole scenario. One was held by a Californian investigator and the other by the Canadian government. Both lead to the door of the Arkansas
governor’s office, which was, at that point, occupied by Jim Guy Tucker, another Clinton henchman that was also involved in the Whitewater Scandal. Both investigators were told that Clinton’s papers from when he was Governor were removed when he left office, which seems to be a familiar excuse Clinton uses when confronted about his shady dealings. Of course at this point he was the President. The investigators were told to contact the White House legal counsel’s office. It is not clear what happened next but it is assumed that they made
contact with Vince Foster, the man in the legal counsel’s office who knew Arkansas and who had been involved in the prison system. It is thought that at one
point, he may have represented HMA.
In July 1993 Vince Foster, a Deputy White House Counsel, died under mysterious circumstances, at the young age of 48, only a few months into the job. It was well known that he was unhappy with work in the political field, leading him to spiral into a crippling depression. Some people believe it was suicide. A day or two after Foster’s death, someone calls a little-known phone number at the White House counsel’s office where Mr. Foster worked. The person that picked up the phone was working as executive assistant to Bernard Nussbaum, chief White House counsel. “The man said he had some information that might be important,” wrote a columnist, who did not name her source or identify the official who took the call.
“Something had upset Vince Foster greatly just days before he died. Something about ‘tainted blood’ that both Vince Foster and President Clinton knew about, this man said.”
In 1999 stories broke out about the scandal and those that had investigated claimed they had evidence that Clinton knew about the operation and also signed off on it, possibly due to financial gain.
That same year someone wrote a book about the whole situation under an alias. When the author finally came to the media to tell their version of events, people started to give the scandal a lot more attention. So much so that on Monday May 31, 1999 a media outlet published a story which revealed that two crimes that occurred within hours of each other the week before, hundreds of kilometres apart. These crimes raised some serious questions on whether intimidation tactics were being used to silence those that knew about the infected blood situation.
In Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a firebomb ignited a prosthetics clinic
owned by an author who had been pushing hard for a U.S.
government investigation. The clinic was a shell by the time the fire had been stopped and fire officials found a gas canister in the attic where documents were kept. The officials said they were 90% sure it was arson.
Then, in Montreal, someone broke into the offices of the Canadian Haemophilia Society in Quebec. The society had recently brought to light documents that showed the Finance Minister at the time, Paul Martin, was a board member of the corporation that owned the company who distributed the Arkansas prison plasma in Canada. The CHS officials claimed thieves stole a computer and three telephones as well as documents from a box labelled “Hepatitis C, Krever Commission, Reform of the blood system, HIV-AIDS.”
The case was never fully investigated, nor covered by the mainstream media to a great effect. Even when an alleged eye witness who worked at the prison in the 80’s messaged a small media outlet in 2005, the mainstream media did not pay much attention. This was the eyewitness’ statement.
“I ran across this article [about tainted blood] and it brought back old memories. I worked the plasma center several times as a guard during this period and saw some pretty bad things.
I had that same conversation with [Name Retracted] before he went to the governor. He left Arkansas after that to lay low. He was my best friend at the time. Later after a promotion, an inmate who became my clerk told stories of events that took place when he was assigned to the plasma center, including things like the refrigeration going out for hours and the plasma being refrozen later and shipped. I’ve seen the thugs they brought in with no medical training thrust a needle several times through the veins of the donors to teach them a lesson. For some this was their only means of getting money, and with their arm black and swelled up as big as a watermelon it would be weeks before they could return. I saw 3 inmates die in 18 months between fall ’82 and spring ’84. You can’t fight organized crime if there’s no one higher to pass judgment. Not counting regular people and inmates I know of one other friend of Bill’s who went down and never made your death list. Anyway, old memories. . . Thanks for the reporting,”
Not only that but the person that picked up the phone in the White House when the unnamed man called also gave a statement. This is taken from the Judicial Watch deposition of said person.
Q: Now the bit about the screen flashing up encrypted, [Name Retracted] asked you, again this is on page 139, is that an accurate recitation of what you told [Name Retracted] and you responded no.
A: No, it’s not. Let me just clarify, it’s not that, it appears to be a compilation of two different issues confused in the recitation. The word encrypted, if I used it at all, did not have to do with FBI files. It had to do with another issue on [Name Retracted] machine when it was located in the West Wing prior to its being moved. What I had told [Name Retracted] at the time was that it had been alarming to me that when I tried to enter data from a caller that I was working with on a tainted blood issue, that every time I entered a word that had to do with this particular issue, it would flash up either the word encrypted or password required or something to indicate the file was locked.
Nobody knows for certain what happened in that prison in the 80’s apart from those that were there. All the articles have been scrubbed from the net, the mainstream media has consistently covered it up or ignored it and justice for those tens of thousands of people that died due to being infected from the contaminated blood has never been found. I don’t expect this story to change anything, nor find that justice, but all I can do is make people aware of this issue considering Hillary Clinton is now the democratic nominee. This is just one of many scandals and dirty dealings that the Clintons have been trying to suppress for their entire careers. From the crimes in Arkansas to the shady dealings of the Clinton foundation, Bill and Hillary can’t seem to do anything straight. They certainly both have a lot to answer for.
